Maria Hamilton

Maria Hamilton has over 30 years’ experience in litigation work, specialising in all aspects of family law.

Maria has a wealth of experience in dealing with relationship property, disputes involving trusts and companies, economic disparity, spousal maintenance and disputes involving estates.  She has considerable experience in bringing applications under the Protection of Personal Property Rights Act and representing those who may be subject to orders under that Act.

As a senior Lawyer for Child, Maria is frequently appointed by the Court in complex matters representing children.  She is appointed as Counsel to Assist the Court in various capacities.

Maria is a past President of the Hawke’s Bay Branch of the New Zealand Law Society.  She is a past Convenor of the New Zealand Law Society Courts Committee.  Maria is a current member of the New Zealand Family Law Section and continues to contribute on a voluntary basis to the work of the New Zealand Law Society.

Maria is passionate about finding solutions for the problems that face clients, be they adult clients or child clients.

Rebecca Wharerau

Rebecca manages our office and is secretary for Maria .

Rebecca has been a legal secretary for 30+ years, having previously worked as a legal secretary in the UK and the Cayman Islands.  She has worked for Maria since 2006.
